On our trip from Palm Springs to Prescott, AZ we stopped at Lake Havasu City to see the London Bridge. We enjoyed lunch under the bridge in the small English town replica with shops and cafes.
The London Bridge was sold to Robert P. McCulloch, a real estate developer, because it was no longer able to carry the traffic load in London in the 60’s. In 1971, McCulloch paid to have the bridge disassembled and shipped through the Panama Canal. It was reassembled and was the main draw to bring in potential home buyers to an otherwise empty part of the desert. It’s crazy to think the stones from the bridge were in use in London from 1831 to 1964 and are now in use in Arizona.
While in Prescott we spent time with MK’s brother John and his wife Fran. We explored the Courthouse Plaza, had pizza and some local Beers at Bill’s Pizza (excellent) and ice cream at Frannie’s Cones and Coffee. We had dinner at their beautiful hillside home and John helped us with a couple camper projects. Always great to spend time with family, especially those living far away who we don’t see often.
We stayed at the Point of Rocks RV Park, in Prescott, AZ. We enjoyed many different trails though the rocky landscape of the property, each one presenting an excellent view of the city or Watson Lake. The dogs also hiked the trails with goat-like dexterity. It was a different and stunning walk every time!
This was the great view from our campsite.
