A well-rested crew piled into our (t)rusty truck this morning and headed to downtown St Louis to see Gateway Arch National Park. Our first glimpse came on the freeway over 7 miles away… Wow, it is tall! (630 feet to be exact)
We navigated around the derelict buildings near the shores of the Mississippi and parked next to a riverboat casino right out of Ozark. Was that Marty Byrde?
It is the smallest national park in the nation with a nice museum below a green space and the real attraction, the Arch. The trip to the top is an exciting journey in an Elevator/gondola/space pod and is something everyone should try. It is pretty cool that they are still running after 60 years.
The view of downtown St Louis is also great, even on a cloudy rainy day.
A fun time and well worth the stop. Too bad the dogs could not come with for this one.

Today was filled with driving from St Louis to Gulpha Gorge Campground within Hot Springs National Park. We did stop for…
